The New Nutanix ROBO License

Have you been using Nutanix ROBO (Remote Office Branch Office) and not sure how it translates using the new licensing model provided by Nutanix? The new-ish licensing model is called PNP2.0, which is subscription based, and it took some time for Nutanix to come up with a licensing model that worked for those users that don’t require the full AOS feature set.

Nutanix introduces NCI-Edge, designed to streamline and secure edge computing environments. This solution focuses on delivering enterprise-grade IT infrastructure outside traditional data centers, optimizing for unique edge computing challenges. NCI-Edge aims to simplify operations, enhance reliability, and provide flexible deployment options to meet diverse edge computing needs, ensuring seamless integration with existing IT ecosystems. The greatest reason to choose this model would be for clusters at remote locations that only have a few VMs running and you don’t need to license based on cores. NCI-Edge is priced on a per VM basis as measured by the maximum number of concurrently powered-on VMs. This approach supports a broad range of applications and scenarios, from retail to manufacturing, enhancing operational efficiency and data processing at the edge.
